UK - Telford
Telford does not have the greatest reputation as an amazing tourist destination - but there is actually quite a lot going on, from historical sites and nature walks to museums and nightlife. Again, looking for places to take mum, we went to Blist Hill Victorian Town, a working museum to life in Victorian England, where the first task is to exchange some modern money for old, and then enjoy the traditional shops and fairgrounds. Always a nice day out!
Another day, driving to see my sister, we stopped at Buildwas Abbey, a National Trust property we have passed many, many times.

UK - West Midlands Safari
Summer 2014 saw us back in the UK for a few days, mainly to visit mum. As she loves animals, there was no better place than the West Midlands Safari Park - indeed, we came twice! I have to say though, those giraffes may seem cute, but they have VERY sticky tongues and an amazing appetite!

Indonesia - Weekend in Bali
After the success of the Cambodia trip in October, we booked another long weekend for Chinese New Year, this time to Bali, a destination that has been on my ‘must do‘ list for some time! It was a nice weekend – but, unfortunately did not live up to expectations – maybe because of a wrong location? The photos here are from the sunset temple, built on a rock jutting out to sea and the only beach we saw on the whole trip! The last three photos are by professional photographers, stolen from the internet – impressive indeed!

Cambodia - Angkor Wat & Temples
We recently had a long weekend from school, and took the opportunity to finally visit Siem Reap, home of Angkor Wat, a place that had been on my list of places to visit for many years. What i didn't realise is Angkor Wat is just one of hundreds of temples in the Siem Reap area. So, we grabbed a tuktuk for a day, and got the driver to take us on a tour!

Cambodia - Siem Reap
A long weekend gave us the opportunity to visit Siem Reap in Cambodia. While the main attraction was to be Angkor Wat, there was some other nice trips to be had, including a boat trip out to the floating village, and a scooter drive through the countryside.

Malaysia - Legoland
Another daytrip saw us crossing over the border into the Johor Bahru area of Malaysia, literally just across the straits.
Johor is being fast developed with malls and theme parks, and even international schools - where everything is cheaper than Singapore - and hence attractive to Singaporeans! We took the bus over, and spent a day at Legoland, Malaysia.
