Croatia - Krka National Park
Today was a full day tour of Krka National Park, a beautiful park with winding paths through the hillsides, all leading down to the Tufa Waterfalls, and the lower river delta. I'll let the pics do the talking.

Croatia - Split
Our main summer holiday was to be Croatia - and we arrived on a cheap flight from Birmingham at Split.
Split feels like a city that time has forgotten. The ancient centre is like nothing you’ll have seen before, with a whole district taken up by a sprawling Roman palace, going strong after 1700 years. Over the centuries this architecture has been kept intact and then incorporated into newer buildings, like St. Duje’s Cathedral, the heart of which is a 4th-century mausoleum. A great place to start our trip - and who knew we'd arrive in a heatwave!

UK - Whisby Nature Park
You may have seen in the family blog that Shanhong loves to feed ducks and swans! So, as we had a couple of hours free in Lincoln, we drove out to Whisby Nature Park, one of her favourite places, where she is guaranteed to be able to get up close with a swan or two!

Singapore - Pasir Ris Park
Pasir Ris Park is one of Singapore's many 'neighbourhood' parks. These are dotted all over the island - ensuring Singapore remains a 'garden city'. However, as Pasir Ris park is also coastal, it is really a beautiful place to visit with a small mangrove, views of the sea and plenty of trees. This is the only park where I have seen an owl, and also a lot of green parrots.

China - Beihai
For Christmas, we went back to Beihai, our China home. Always nice to be back in our own place... although the first few days are always needed to clean! As always, a lot of our trip was on the bike, enjoying the coast - but we also went out to one of the temples. Other days saw us in the local cinemas, eating out, and having visits from friends.

Singapore - Keppel Hill Reservoir
Keppel Hill Reservoir is known as the 'hidden reservoir' in Singapore as it disappeared from maps for many years. Still 'untouched' it can be reached through a gap in a fence and a short hike, and is a lovely area of true natural beauty. From the reservoir a further walk uphill brings you to the cable-car at Mount Faber Peak.

China - Hainan
October half term saw us take a cheap trip! A budget airline flight to the apartment in Bo An on Hainan Island. No accommodation costs - and a beautiful seaside destination. We hired local bikes to have a ride around the coast and also went out to one of the temples - but most of the time we were just walking on the beaches.

Singapore - Bukit Timah Hill
Singapore is a relatively flat country. The highest point is Bukit Timah Hill, just 164m (538 feet) above sea level. Having said that, the climb is relatively steep - so you certainly feel the incline. With the connections to other parks and nature reserves, it can be a very nice part of a walk.
